Our goal is to educate people about canine behavior. We promote harmonious canine-human relationships by demonstrating humane training tactics, interrupting unrealistic expectations and minimizing the relinquishment of dogs with behavior problems that are resolvable.

Our mission is accomplished by providing in-home canine-friendly training, accurate training materials, and safe, healthy and humane tools for modifying behaviors.

Frequently Asked Questions:

How many in-home consultation sessions will I need?

The number of recommended sessions varies widely depending on the behavior issue, severity, each individual dog and each owner’s commitment and consistency with the suggestions we provide. Some cases require only one consult to get things back on track. In other cases (especially with forms of aggression) we recommended at least two or more consultation sessions for maximum improvement.

Will you do all the training in order to turn my dog around?

No. In many circumstances, owner behavior has some influence on the issues a dog may be having. Thus, owners are an essential component in training and reconditioning a dog. Beyond Obedience provides owners with the tools, education and support to alter problematic behaviors, but ultimately the owners must implement the tactics and work with their dog to enforce the training and desired behaviors after the behaviorist leaves.  The best chance for improvement and continued success comes when owners are aware of how their own actions influence a dog’s behavior and when they themselves turn into trainers!

How do your prices compare to other local services?

Our services and products are priced competitively!

Many of our products are priced lower than what is found in local pet stores.

When pricing our services, we’ve taken into account our extensive experience and education. Although we charge only for the time we spend at your home in the actual consultation, there are many additional steps we take to service you and your dog fully.

In addition to the consult itself, time spent making phone calls, preparatory work done prior to your appointment, mileage/time driving (within a 20 mile radius), 1-2 hours drawing up a report after a consultation, and follow-up emails are also factors considered in our pricing system.

Can you guarantee success?

First, success is somewhat subjective. What may be acceptable improvement in a dog’s behavior to one family may not be acceptable to another.

We DO guarantee our services to be professional and honest! Additionally, we promise to give you as much information as possible concerning any particular behavior problem.

Dog behavior has many influences, however, some of which Beyond Obedience has no control over. We cannot directly control a dog’s genetic make-up, an owner’s behavior or the environment the dog is exposed to. Thus, guarantees about specific progress cannot be made. However, if owners follow the directions we provide, remain consistent and follow through with training, great improvements are likely and usually do occur.
